Interview: How the Finnish Education Model Is Being Adapted in Vietnam

In a recent interview with an education expert working on implementing the Finnish model in Vietnam, it became clear that cultural adaptation is key to success. The core principles of Finland’s system — student-centered learning, trust in teachers, and minimal standardized testing — are gradually being introduced in Vietnamese schools.

Adjustments are made to align with local needs, such as revising curricula to match national goals and providing intensive teacher training. According to the expert, the biggest challenge lies in shifting public expectations: parents often equate education with memorization and test scores. Changing this mindset takes time, but early signs show that students are more engaged and learning in deeper, more meaningful ways.
